Fettle Animation’s award-winning documentary, Children of the Holocaust, has been published as a book.
The Huddersfield company originally created the animation in conjunction with MediaCityUK-based BBC Learning and the Holocaust Survivor’s Friendship Association charity.
The book tells the stories of 6 young people and how they escaped from the Nazi regime during World War Two and how they came to live in the UK.
Animation artist Ryan Jones adapted Zane Whittingham’s designs from the animations into a comic strip format, working with editors Julia Bird and Rachel Cook and designer Peter Scoulding at Hachette.
The book, renamed Survivors of the Holocaust, has been published by the Franklin Watts/Hachette Group.
“It looks better than we could have ever imagined. We’ve worked fastidiously to stay true to the original words of the survivors, and the team at Hachette have added a glossary and web resources for those who want to find out more,” said producer, Kath Shackleton.
A royalty from each sale will support the educational work of the Holocaust Survivor’s Friendship Association.
