Tech North, the government funded initiative to accelerate the growth of the North’s digital economy, has today launched a competition to find ten ‘outstanding startups’.
At an event in Leeds this morning, head of Tech North Claire Braithwaite introduced the idea to a meeting of stakeholders in the community including digital companies, investors, local government and ecosystem players to talk about the strengths and challenges of the North, as well as to share the overall mission for Tech North.
She explained more about the competition on the Tech North website:
“The Northern Stars competition will create a showcase of 10 exceptional tech startups based across the North and provide a real opportunity to showcase the region’s brightest and best entrepreneurial talent.”
The 10 winners will receive a place at the Tech North pavilion at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, be invited to pitch at a dedicated event at Bloomberg and will be able to attend skills development workshops led by expert mentors. They will also attend events and meetings with early stage investors and business leaders.
