Newcastle-set The Dumping Ground is to return for a fourth series as part of a raft of new programmes ordered by CBBC.
Six in-house series have been announced today, with the Bafta award-winning drama’s commission coming ahead of its third run in January.
It will be supported by an app, You’re The Boss, produced by Nikki Stearman.
Also returning is 4 O’Clock Club, which is back for a fifth (13×30) series, as well as new series for Hacker Time (10×30) and Sam & Mark’s Big Friday Wind Up (10×60).
New to CBBC will be Class Dismissed, a 12x15min comedy series created by Steve Collins, Luke Beddows and Andy Potter and set in fictional school Dockbridge High.
The Dengineers (10×30) will see children partner with experts to create a dream den for a CBBC viewer. The show will be executive produced by Annette Williams, with an accompanying online site Den Hacks letting users swap tips and ideas.
CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor said: “I’m delighted we’re bringing more comedy to CBBC in Class Dismissed. Comedy is a hard genre to crack but I think this new series will make viewers laugh out loud.
“The Dengineers is a dynamic and hugely engaging idea which combines creativity, inspiration and the great outdoors all in one uniquely entertaining package.”
Head of CBBC in-house production Helen Bullough added: “The titles highlight the diverse range of high quality content created by the in-house production team across all platforms. This creative bunch thrives on bringing kids the best stories, funniest moments and loads of opportunities to join in and share in the fun.”
