Cristiano Ronaldo has moved into the movies, setting up a joint venture film studio with Matthew Vaughn.
UR•Marv is described as a “groundbreaking crossover” between sports and entertainment.
The former Manchester United player said that he and Vaughn would have “no creative committees” with decisions led solely by the pair. They would also combine Portugal’s tax incentives for film-making, with UK studio facilities.
Their “manifesto” added that the productions would have global appeal, with scripts “tailored” for Ronaldo’s 600m social media followers.
It already has completed 2 action films, with a third in development. These are part of a connected series.
Vaughn has produced films with Guy Ritchie, including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Swept Away. He’s also directed Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-Ass and Argyle and co-created the Kingsman franchise.
