Bradford-based packaging specialist Sun Branding has reported a 17% year-on-year growth, driven by significant new client wins and continued expansion of its international operations.
The company, which now employs over 300 “brand catalysts” across studios in the UK, US and India, has secured several major new clients including Tropicana, Naked, Copella and Ultimate Products.
Sun Branding has also experienced substantial growth in its work with existing clients like Twinings, Aldi and Flora Food Group.
This growth trajectory follows a successful rebranding in 2023, which has helped to effectively communicate the company’s unique offering as a comprehensive packaging solutions provider.
Sun Branding offers a complete suite of services spanning creative design, graphics, technology, legal compliance and sustainability.
Martin Hawkins, Managing Director of Sun Branding, said: “Double digit growth for 2024 has reinforced the belief in our revitalised proposition and connected offer of five packaging services to global brands and retailers.
“This growth looks to continue into 2025 with the investment in our in-house photography studio, events in the UK and US and leads generated so far from last year’s marketing activity.”
The company has identified the US market as a particular focus for future expansion, with recent business wins and positive client feedback validating its strategy for growth in America.
Its position as part of Sun Chemical, one of the world’s largest colour companies with extensive US operations, provides a significant advantage in leveraging these opportunities.
Sun Branding’s heritage dates back to 1893 when Charles Gilchrist established a graphics business in Leeds.
The company moved into packaging in 1993 and was acquired by New Jersey-based Sun Chemical in 2006, relocating to its current Bradford headquarters at Albion Mills.
Today, Sun Branding works with global clients including Walmart, Aldi, Bacardi, Whole Foods, Russell Hobbs, Loblaw and Nomad Foods. Its proprietary software solutions, including the e-volve platform, allows for rapid deployment of packaging across multiple territories.
The company’s sustainability consultancy, Aura, launched in 2022, has also contributed to growth by helping brands manage their packaging sustainability in real time.
The global packaging market is forecast to reach $1 trillion by 2030.
