Paul Webley is managing director of Blaze Media, a thriving digital marketing agency created in Liverpool.
With a team of around 15 staff, Blaze Media recently moved into a new, bigger office space on Stanhope Street in the centre of Baltic Triangle.
Webley started the business in 2017 from his garden office, before moving into the company’s first office in the Baltic Triangle in 2021.
Here, he shares a recent week in his life over in Liverpool…
Monday
I like to start each morning with some sort of exercise as I feel that it sets me up for the day, especially on a Monday as it gets me ready for the week so I headed to the gym.
I then headed into the office and interfered in an ideas meeting for a tender that the paid media team is currently working on. I couldn’t help but add my two pence!
Then it was an accountant meeting for Blaze Media, followed by a 2025 kick-off meeting with the other investors of an ecommerce business that I own part of.
I ended my day with being roped into shooting a TikTok by our social media manager… not usually my thing!
Tuesday
Set my day up with a run followed by a new business meeting with a local start-up who wants us to run their social channels. My Tuesday took a turn as I broke my brand new electric bike! But I turned this around by checking on the progress of our new Blaze Media offices that we’re currently building.
I then had a new business meeting with a management consultancy who need a new website and also want us to run their LinkedIn output.
This was followed by a H1 process and target setting meeting with our development and design department and then I had the same meeting with our paid media and social department.
Tuesday was complete with taking my little boys to football training – a great way to switch off and focus on family time.
Wednesday
I was back to the gym in the morning before I headed to a new business meeting with a new hotel group that’s coming to Liverpool.
Then it was time to take various sales calls, followed by a meeting with Rebecca (director of operations & client services at Blaze) and our new partnerships director to discuss their role.
More H1 process and target setting meetings and this time it was with the SEO department. Wednesday was finished off with meeting the electrician about plans for the new co-work space at our office and a progress report.
Thursday
Another gym morning before I had a Google meet call with a new enquiry about a rebrand and a new website build.
I then met with another Liverpool-based marketing agency owner for a coffee and a soundboard; I find this can be so valuable when you’re a company owner. I also met with a startup about a joint investment between myself and one of our oldest clients.
I ended the day by playing padel with a customer.
Friday
Gym again (five out of five this week!) followed by delivering proposals and pricing for three separate projects! I had a couple of new business calls, ordered lots of new tech for the new Blaze and Ember offices, discussed campaign performance with one of our paid ad clients and plans for them going forward.
It was a wild Friday over here so I rounded off the week by working on accounts for our tax!
