JD Sports Fashion has completed its €520m (£452m) acquisition of French sportswear and footwear retailer Courir following clearance from the European Commission.
Courir has 323 stores across France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Luxembourg.
The French business also has three stores which trade as Naked, an elevated concept for women’s sneakers, as well as 36 franchise stores in north-west Africa, the Middle East and French overseas territories.
Under the conditional clearance from the European Commission, issued on 22 October 2024, 15 of Courir’s stores in France and all of Courir’s six stores in Portugal will be divested to German footwear and sportswear retailer Snipes in the first quarter of 2026.
JD Sports Fashion CEO Régis Schultz said: “This acquisition will broaden the JD Group’s customer reach, adding a more female, fashion-conscious and older customer base to complement the group’s core customers.”
