Yorkshire comic and celebrity Leeds United fan Maisie Adam is getting her own December stand up special, exclusively on Sky Comedy and NOW this festive season.
Adam will be performing her latest tour show, Appraisal, filmed in her hometown at The Harrogate Theatre. It’s been a meteoric rise through the comedy ranks for Maisie and she’s fast on her way to becoming a household name. Stand-up is what she loves most and she’s now five years into her job as a comedian, so perhaps she’s due an appraisal. Appraisal is the ultimate performance review, where we see just why she is an award-winning comic…or is she, like Leeds neighbour Asda, heading towards a “restructure”?
Adam said: “On a cold January morning in 1994, after 32 hours of gruelling labour on behalf of my dear mother, I was born into this world. I know I was only a minute old, but I remember it so vividly; my mother looked down at me, moved my weird haircut out of my eyes and proudly declared ‘One day, she’ll write a stand-up comedy special called Appraisal and it shall be available on Sky for all to see – providing you have Sky of course.’”
London comic Paul Chowdhry, the first British Asian Stand up to sell out Wembley Arena, is also on Sky’s festive menu with his latest tour show, Family Friendly Comedian.
Andy Holland, executive producer, Drum Studios, said: “We’re delighted to have produced these two very different but equally brilliant and hilarious stand-up specials and can’t wait for the Sky audience to see them.”
Sky Original Maisie Adam: Appraisal is a Drum Studios production; written and performed by Maisie Adam; directed by Julia Knowles and executive produced by Danny Carvalho and Andy Holland. The special was commissioned by Dwayne Eaton, commissioning editor for Sky Arts and Entertainment.
Both shows will premiere this December on Sky Comedy and NOW.
