Hollyoaks, Brassic lead pack at Royal Television Society North West Awards 2024

Hollyoaks and Brassic lead the pack at this year’s the Royal Television Society North West Awards 2024, with six and five nominations respectively.

Waterloo Road also had a good showing with three nominations, while perennial viewer favourite Corrie managed two.

Nominees also included supernatural drama Domino Day, which was filmed around Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Merseyside-set The Responder and The Gathering as well as disturbing docu-drama The Reckoning, starring Steve Coogan in a chillingly accurate portrayal of notorious abuser Jimmy Saville.

The winners will be revealed at a star-studded ceremony on November 22nd at the glamorous Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester.

Cameron Roach, chair of the RTS North West, said: “The range and breadth of programmes and talent represented really does demonstrate the power of the North West region across all the genres, within the UK industry. Our juries and chairs have commented on the exceptional quality of entries this year.”

“We’re also pleased to announce that this year the Pre-School Children’s Category will be Awarded in memory of former controller of Cbeebies Kay Benbow, and that the Breakthrough Talent Award has been named after comedy legend Caroline Aherne.
