Manchester’s AO Arena has set a new benchmark in sports history, breaking the all-time attendance record for The Davis Cup tennis tournament over the weekend.
In an exhilarating three-day tournament featuring some of the biggest names in international tennis, including the UK’s Jack Draper, the Manchester venue hosted fans and athletes alike, with over 37,000 sporting spectators gathering to cement this new record for the arena, and for the tournament. On Sunday alone, the tournament sold 15,700 tickets (that’s more than Wimbledon’s Centre Court) as the tournament drew to a breathtaking close.
Unfortunately the fans were not treated to British success, with GB failing to progress to the knockout stages from a group which also contained ultimate qualifiers Canada and Argentina, as well as Finland.
