Games developer Rockstar Leeds returns to profit

Video games developer Rockstar Leeds posted a return to profit last year, its latest accounts have revealed.

The company, which is part of US-based Rockstar Games and employs around 80 staff, recorded a pre-tax profit of £242,864 compared to a loss of £187,403 in the 12 months to the end of March 2013.

Overall turnover was however down slightly on the previous year, from £4m to £3.8m.

Rockstar Leeds was founded in 1997 as Mobius Entertainment and acquired by Rockstar Games in 2004.

It’s been heavily involved in the Grand Theft Auto series and developed some of the hand-held device formats for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the latest game which made $1billion in three days upon release last September.

Other Rockstar Leeds games include LA Noire, Midnight Club 3, The Warriors, Beaterator and Max Payne.
