Amman Ahmed, the ‘compawser’ and entrepreneur behind Manchester’s Music for Pets, has been inducted into the Recording Academy, the prestigious organisation behind the Grammy Awards.
The milestone highlights the transition from creating therapeutic music for cats and dogs, to joining an elite circle of music professionals.
Ahmed’s compositions, designed to relax dogs and cats, have reached over 50 million pets worldwide. This success led to the acquisition of his company by major US rap/hip-hop record label Create Music last year in a deal that promised at least $10m new investment.
After a rigorous six-month application process and endorsements two high-level music executives, Ahmed was thrilled to learn of his acceptance into the Recording Academy. This membership allows him to attend major industry events, including the Grammy Awards, and participate in the voting process.
“I am deeply honoured to join the Recording Academy,” said Ahmed. “With only 2% of the Academy’s members being of South Asian descent, it’s a privilege to help shape the future of our music scene worldwide.”
The induction into the Recording Academy recognizes Ahmed’s contributions to both the music and pet care industries. His work exemplifies how music can bring comfort and joy to animals and their owners, while Ahmed was also a co-founder of the new-music hunting app Rormix back in 2013.
