Paddy & Molly: Show No Mersey, the fly-on-the-wall doc following the lives of Scouse UFC fighters Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett and ‘Meatball’ Molly McCann, will debut on BBC Three and iPlayer next week.
Proud Scousers and best mates, Paddy and Molly are making a massive impact in UFC, which is hailed as one of the fastest growing sports in the world. This frank, funny and up-close series follows Paddy and Molly’s journey inside and outside of the cage as they take on the biggest fights of their lives while juggling their relationships with friends and family.
Paddy is infamously known to be brash and full of bravado in and out of the cage, while Molly is introspective and emotionally raw but no less outgoing. With their no-holds-barred careers, inspiring stories and powerful personalities, both are united by a hunger to win and a willingness to do anything to help each other out, both professionally and personally.
The series also showcases Liverpool, celebrating the city’s rich culture. From the influential Next Generation MMA Gym to the vibrant and bustling Baltic Market, which is home to Molly’s restaurant, the reality of Molly and Paddy’s day-to-day lives will provide a unique look at this vibrant part of the UK.
We’ll also get to see Vegas, the epicentre of UFC, which plays a big part across the series as we start there with the most important fight of Paddy’s career against Tony Ferguson in Dec 2023 and then watch as Molly trains and fights her way back to Vegas after two back-to-back losses and a fight that will decide her future.
We’ll meet Paddy’s wife, Laura, and Molly’s fiancée, Ellis. With Laura pregnant with twins and the pair recently buying their dream home, how will Paddy balance his training and fighting career with a hectic home life?
And as Molly dedicates time to training and travelling the world to prepare for her next fight, will she be able to fit in quality time at home with Ellis too?
We also meet their coach Paul Rimmer, commercial assistant manager Tommy McDonnell and fellow fighters Luke Riley and Leah McCourt.
Alongside the drama and the all fighting within the series humour runs throughout as Paddy prepares to become a father for the first time. We join him trying out a contraction machine, baby shopping for the first time and constantly trying the patience of his wife Laura. More importantly, Molly and Paddy debate the most important issue of our time… is the city red or blue?
McCann said: “We take the cameras with us through our day to days and show what it’s really like to train for some of the biggest fights in our careers. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and a lot goes into what we do behind the scenes – you’ll have to watch it and see to believe it!”
Pimblett added: “You get the chance to see behind the scenes of what life is like for me and Molly in one of the most intense times of our careers – you really will get to see the blood, sweat and tears.”
Paddy & Molly: Show No Mersey will be available as an eight part boxset on BBC iPlayer on Monday July 1 and will air on Monday nights at 9pm on BBC Three.
