Manchester digital entrepreneur, Amman Ahmed, has set up a new digital music app, Rormix.
Entirely self-funded and developed in-house, the App has been created to help iOS and Android users find unsigned acts.
If you search for Lady Gaga, it’ll return results that sound like her, rather than the singer herself.
“Online channels, like YouTube, are getting fragmented in the marketplace, and social video channels, like Vevo, are missing out on the opportunity to highlight emerging artists,” explained Ahmed.
“There are hundreds of artists throughout the world who have created their own high quality music videos, but don’t have the right platform to showcase them or don’t know how to market them. So we started looking at an app that will help do just that.”
The App can also take into account the user’s Facebook likes.
Since its release in October, there have been 3000 downloads in more than 100 countries.
Ahmed and his team are based at Innospace in Manchester. The University of Manchester graduate, who was born in Leeds, is behind easysleepmusic.com, which later became roundwav.es, and now has 2.5m monthly views.
