Edinburgh space technology firm Aurora Avionics has secured over £320k in funding from Gabriel Investment Syndicate and Scottish Enterprise.
The firm will use the funding to develop and manufacture what it says are the first “off the shelf” systems for the guidance and control of launch vehicles.
Announcing the new cash injection, Aurora said: “This capital injection will enable us to grow our thriving design team in Edinburgh and enhance the development of our world-class avionics offering.
“This investment provides a strong foundation which will enable us to support the rapidly growing launch vehicle ecosystem with reliable and universal control systems, reducing launch costs, risks and complexity.”
Aurora was founded in 2023 by chief executive Oren Smith-Carpenter and co-founder and fellow engineer, and former Orbex colleague, Rowland Fraser (49), the firm’s chief technical officer. It has already been backed by the European Space Agency, which enabled its move to a research laboratory at Edinburgh’s Royal Observatory.
