Following a pitch involving a number of PR agencies, the London office of Weber Shandwick, has won a new communications brief from Keep Britain Tidy as part of the charity’s aim to transform itself into a broader campaigning body attracting higher levels of external funding.
Keep Britain Tidy is based in Wigan.
The environmental charity and anti-litter brand is due to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2014.
This is the first time for many years that the charity will be working with an external PR agency although the charity will continue to retain Carat Manchester for its media planning and buying and Carbon Creative of Salford Quays for its creative and digital activities.
Weber Shandwick will specifically be working with Keep Britain Tidy on a new marketing strategy for 2013 but will also be helping to develop a new campaign that highlights the organisation’s wider work on waste, education, sustainability and resource efficiency and highlights core programmes from Eco-Schools and Waste Watch to Blue Flags beaches and Green Flags for parks.
Simone Spray, director of programmes at Keep Britain Tidy, said: “We are delighted to be working together to develop a compelling narrative that reflects our broader remit and to communicate this narrative across the business and beyond in a way that can help drive fund-raising and create real environmental change across the UK.”
Although Weber Shandwick has a sizeable Manchester operation, John Lunny at Weber Shandwick confirmed the account will be managed entirely out of London.
